The days between Winter Solstice in New Years are a time of reflection for me. A time of review, dreaming, and setting intention for the next year. A time of rest before we move forward.

Over the last year, I have come to realize that my body of work, while it may be abstract, landscape, or figurative in context, is about the theme of “Notes to Younger Self.”

Going into liminal space where creation happens, I percolate and re-narrate the parts of me that need healing. I hear the wisdom of source and my wiser self.

I have been in review of my journals that date back to my early college years. In doing so I knew that these journals needed to be released. It became very clear that the New Year marked a time of letting go, releasing those old parts of me that were broken, wounded, and at times depressed.

So I burned them.

I burned them and let the fire cleanse me. To start anew with more space and room to grow.

And with each flame I expanded into a new version of me. A version that is letting go and moving forward. I am ready for you 2016.

What are you letting go of to move forward into the new year?
